Porter Robinson - Divinity - Commentary lyrics

[Porter Robinson - Divinity - Commentary lyrics]

"So, Divinity that was it's the
First song on the album
And I think it's the first song I wrote
That was really in the 'Worlds style'
And by that I mean like, 90-ish BPM, um
That sort of chord atmosphere
And sensibility and the structure that really
Begins with a hook um
To me, that's where the whole style
Sort of came out of uh
And, Amy Millan, of course -
She did this, like, wonderful
Gorgeous vocal
Um, she's from the band Stars, which
Was one of my real, like
High-school, um
High-school records that I got
Really really sentimental about um
You know their song "Ageless Beauty" i
Mеan yeah, that that band is so good and I
Think, like, I don't know
I remеmber writing "Divinity"
And it was when I was- it was one
Of the first songs that I wrote
Off the album and to me, you
Know I'd written that intro, with that
That little 'ya ah!' type sound
And I just felt that it was so hook-y
And I think
That actually I hadn't written it
As an intro initially
But I knew it needed to
Be moved to the front of the production
And then everything just really flowed
Out of it from there, and then
I like, resolved, I'm "This
This feels very me" And I felt like I had
Kind of stumbled upon the
Sound of Worlds that's
Why I felt it was really critical to have
It as the first song on the album"
