🇺🇸 American Authors is an American rock band originally formed in Boston and currently based in New York City. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Zac Barnett, bassist Dave Rublin, and drummer Matt Sanchez. Guitarist and banjoist James Adam Shelley was part of the group until 2021. They gained widespread popularity with their hit singles "Believer" and "Best Day of My Life" from their debut album Oh, What a Life, as well as the top 20 hit "Go Big or Go Home" from their second album What We Live For. Previously signed to Island Records, the band now releases music independently.
The history of American Authors began in 2006 when the members met at Berklee College of Music. In their early years, they performed and recorded under the name The Blue Pages until they changed it to American Authors in 2012. In 2013, their single "Believer" gained attention on alternative radio stations, and "Best Day of My Life" became their most successful hit. In the following years, they released several more albums, including Seasons and Best Night of My Life, along with numerous singles and covers.
After James Adam Shelley left the band in 2021, the group continued as a trio, releasing singles and collaborations, including a joint effort with Rob Thomas and Santana. Their fifth studio album, Call Your Mother, is scheduled for release in October 2024. The band’s tracks have been featured in films, commercials, and video games, further boosting their popularity.
