Ashe (Ashlyn Rae Willson) - American singer and songwriter

 

🇺🇸 Ashlyn Rae Willson, better known as Ashe, was born on April 24, 1993, in San Jose, California. She is an American singer-songwriter who gained popularity with her 2019 single "Moral of the Story," which was featured in the Netflix film To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (2020). The song was produced by Noah Conrad with additional production from Finneas O'Connell. Ashe also co-wrote Demi Lovato's song "You Don't Do It for Me Anymore" and has toured with Louis the Child, Lauv, and Whethan.

 

Ashe began her musical journey at a young age, taking piano and vocal lessons from the age of eight. Her musical tastes were shaped by listening to Christian radio and the influence of her grandfather, who introduced her to artists like Bob Dylan, The Beatles, and Jefferson Airplane. In 2015, she graduated from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Contemporary Writing and Production.

 

In her career, notable moments include the period from 2015 to 2017, when Ashe sang demos in Nashville and attracted the attention of Swedish producer Ben Phipps, leading to her involvement in the track "Sleep Alone." During this time, she also featured on several dance and house tracks. In 2017, her single "Let You Get Away" with Canadian DJ Shaun Frank was nominated for a Juno Award and certified gold in Canada.

 

Between 2018 and 2020, Ashe released her debut EP The Rabbit Hole and two EPs as part of the Moral of the Story series. The song "Moral of the Story" gained popularity after being featured in the Netflix film, contributing to its success on the charts.

 

Ashe released her debut album Ashlyn on May 7, 2021, which debuted at number 194 on the Billboard 200. In 2022, she followed up with the album Rae, and her third album, Willson, is set to be released on September 6, 2024. She announced her return to an independent label with the new album and released the single "Running Out of Time" on June 28, 2024.

 

In her music, Ashe draws inspiration from jazz, as well as artists such as Diane Keaton and Carole King. Her work also reflects the influence of artists like Stevie Nicks and Bon Iver.
