🇨🇦 Cecile Believe, formerly known as Mozart's Sister, is a solo project by Montreal-based Canadian musician Caila Thompson-Hannant. She began her musical career inspired by electropop, which was introduced to her by her uncle. She played guitar and synthesizer in the band Shapes & Sizes and was also a member of Montreal-based bands Miracle Fortress and Think About Life.
In 2011, Thompson-Hannant independently released her first EP Dear Fear on Bandcamp. This was followed by performances at festivals such as SXSW and Pop Montreal, which garnered press attention. In 2013, she released her second EP Hello through Merok Records, and in 2014, she released her album Being. Her second album Field of Love came out in 2017.
Caila also participated in the project SOPHIE, recording vocals for several tracks, including the singles Ponyboy and Faceshopping. In 2020, she relaunched her career under the new moniker Cecile Believe, releasing the album Made In Heaven, which was entirely written, produced, and performed by herself. That same year, she released her mixtape Plucking a Cherry From The Void, featuring tracks produced by PC Music founder A. G. Cook.
Cecile Believe continues to actively collaborate with various artists and release remixes for tracks by artists such as caro♡, Magdalena Bay, and Say Lou Lou.
