Moncrieff grew up in a small port town, Waterford, in the southeast of Ireland. In his youth, his life changed due to a heavy loss — he lost both his older brother and sister to cystic fibrosis. This grief had a significant impact on his creativity and often finds expression in his songs. At the age of 19, after studying law in Cork, he made the decision to move to London to pursue his musical dream.
