Andrew Peterson - Disobeying Orders lyrics

[Andrew Peterson - Disobeying Orders lyrics]

My uncle Steve understood
Something about living
Life to the fullest he was
Dying of cancer a few years ago
And the day after one
Of his worst doctor's appointments
Where the doctor told him he needed
To go to the hospital for
The rest of his life
The short rest of his life
Instead, my uncle Steve
Who was this Florida
Fisherman-farmer guy from
South Florida decided to, instead
Of following doctor's orders, he decided to
Hop in an RV with my aunt
Margaret and drove from Florida
To Alaska because he's always wanted
To go salmon fishing
And I don't know if maybe he didn't
Realize there were salmon much closer
But he also had always wanted
To see the mountains, like
Florida's not much different than Indiana as
Far as the hills go like, the closest thing
We have to mountains in Florida are clouds
And I know that he always
Wanted to see the Rockies so anyway
I heard that story and I wrote this
For him, he died a few years later
I had the honor of singing it
Right in front of his casket
