I suppose she's supposed to be
Exactly what they want her to be
So pretty and pink necklace and ring
Don’t be heard, just be seen
But that's not who I am
She said I can feel, I can feel too much
And I wish they'd go away, go away
’Cause it's crushing me, it's crushing me
Don't you know that you don't have a say?
And the scarlet "A" on your neck
So pretty in red eyes are all dead
What they haven't said
Gets stuck in your head
The silence is deafening
And your heart is bleeding out
But they don't care
No, they never cared at all
No, they never cared at all
That's not who I am
She said I can feel, I can feel too much
And I wish they’d go away, go away
’Cause it's crushing me, crushing me
It’s crushing me, it's crushing me
She just wants to be free
Take it or leave it
Eyes, like the sunrise, colorful rainbow
She said I can feel, I can feel too much
And I wish it'd go away, go away
'Cause they’re crushing me
They're crushing me, oh
(I can feel, I can feel too much)
They're crushing me
(I can feel, I can feel too much)
Oh, they're crushing me
(I can feel, I can feel)
Crushing me crash down on me
Crash down on me
Meaning & Review Imagine Dragons - Crushed
The American band Imagine Dragons has released a music video for their song "Crushed", featuring footage captured in Ukraine during a large-scale invasion. The video showcases the story of 14-year-old Sasha, whose village was under Russian occupation for five months and now "nothing remains". Sasha managed to survive the bombings by hiding in a shelter, while his neighbors did not.
The video displays the ruins of homes, destroyed by bombings and shelling, which once housed people, as well as a school where children once studied. These charred skeletons are all that remain of their past lives, a haunting reminder of the people who will never return. The band members noted that Sasha's story and that of his family is just one of thousands. Despite losing everything, they remain in their village, hoping to rebuild their home.
The child who survived the true horrors of war seemingly guides viewers on a unique tour of the devastated library and school buildings, as well as through streets where Russian missiles protrude from the ground.
In their post, the band also noted that thousands more people are in need of help. The American musicians urged fans not to be indifferent to the suffering of Ukrainians. They reminded that there is an opportunity to make a donation to United24, which will help support people during these difficult times.
Footage in the clip from the destroyed village of Novogrihorivka, Mykolaiv region, Ukraine
Video work presents at May 10, 2023. At the end of the clip, Imagine Dragons wrote that they remain united with their Ukrainian friends, love and support everyone.
It is worth mentioning that in July 2022, Imagine Dragons became ambassadors for the United24 platform. The musicians chose the "Medical Assistance" direction and regularly support fundraising efforts for humanitarian aid to Ukraine. According to the band's lead singer Dan Reynolds, Imagine Dragons will raise awareness worldwide about the war in Ukraine and encourage foreigners to contribute charitably to the needs of Ukrainians. Specifically, the musicians helped raise funds for 400 resuscitation vehicles, which were distributed to 12 regions of Ukraine in January 2023.
Quote: "Our video for Crushed, filmed on the front lines of Ukraine, is out now. It follows Sasha, a young boy who endured months of shelling in his town. Sasha's story is heartbreaking, and there are thousands more like him who desperately need help. Even today, his family is without electricity and other basic utilities. Please consider donating to United24 and raising your voice for this cause."
Ty Arnold:"I spent last winter in Ukraine, delivering food to people who needed it. Many of them were still under artillery fire or had recently been liberated from the occupation. I kept talking to the band members about what I saw, and they quickly offered to make a video clip that would reflect the emotions of ordinary Ukrainians suffering from the war. I really liked this idea... Imagine Dragons are very active in helping Ukraine, and I saw this as an opportunity to show people how this war affects their lives. During my travels, I met Sashko, who survived months of shelling. He recently returned to his native village and saw that it was completely destroyed. This video partially shows what Sashko experienced and what thousands of other Ukrainians continue to experience every day."
