Placebo - Forever Chemicals lyrics

[Placebo - Forever Chemicals lyrics]

The memory drugs
Make memory snow
I think but I forget
My imagination doesn't know where to go
So it goes to sleep instead
The memory tapes
Of memory fucking
Fill me with regret
Now my memory shapes
Forgot their own names
And I can't get out of bed
(Shit)

My memory body
My memory skin
I want to kiss your pretty face
The memory drugs
Are a discipline
So I can know and keep my place

And it's all good
When nothing matters
It's all good
When no one cares
It's all good
When I feel nothing
It's all good
When I'm not there

And with friends like you
Who needs enemies?
And with friends like you
Who needs enemies?
With friends like you
Who needs enemies?
Friends like you

And it's all good
When nothing matters
It's all good
When no one cares
It's all good
When I feel nothing
It's all good
When I'm not there
It's all good
When nothing matters
It's all good
When no one cares
It's all good
When I feel nothing
It's all good
When I'm not there
It's all good
When nothing matters
It's all good
When no one cares
It's all good
When I feel nothing
It's all good

About the song Placebo - Forever Chemicals

Forever Chemicals - guitar distortion sound, heavy intro, but still the same beautiful voice. We plunge into the world of hard drugs and all-consuming depression.

After 8 years of waiting, British rock band Placebo is back with the long-awaited album "Never Let Me Go". This is the first album recorded by Brian Molko and Stefan Olsdal since the departure of drummer Steve Forrest in 2015. They were gone for 8 long years, many thought that the guys had already written off and retired, but after listening to the new album, your opinion will change and you will feel the "new" Placebo.

Never Let Me Go is a real disaster for fans of short tracks and "fast" albums. The guys, without betraying themselves, fill their stories with clarity and versatility, so that we feel their feelings through long musical silhouettes. During the writing of the album, the musicians threw aside the prejudices and the usual ways of writing songs. For example, the album title, cover art, and single titles were all thought up long before the music itself was written. Amazing, isn't it? 85% of the album was written before the pandemic, because of this, many people will be able to interpret the songs in today's way, through the prism of disasters and wars.

"Placebo never wrote songs to tell people how they should think or react. We are musicians and creators. Quote: "Never Let Me Go" reflects our feelings when we recorded the album over two years ago. This is a snapshot. "Today it no longer belongs to us. In light of the pandemic, what is happening in Ukraine or their own experience, people will interpret this album in their own way. The songs have a life of their own now. We have to accept it." In the new album, in addition to the beloved depression, themes of inequality, insecurity of the lower strata of the population, social injustice, wars and ecology are raised.

Never Let Me Go is a typical Placebo alter-rock album, but spiced with electronic cuts and sounds. Each track from the album was produced by Placebo themselves. Their sound has not become outdated in 9 years, I would like to note that it has even been upgraded and become stronger.

Placebo are back and have said more than many bands in the last 8 years. The album is far from commercial, in places it is too long, but true fans will definitely understand. Despite overwhelming emotions, Never Let Me Go is an exercise in control and expert performance that finds Placebo on a different level of songwriting and point of view, a welcome surprise at this stage of their career. Purely, in our opinion, tracks 12 and 13 are superfluous. It was worth finishing on This Is What You Wanted. The album was written before the start of the pandemic, but it definitely fits into today's global agenda. We still have not learned to love and appreciate our life, and the consumer attitude to everything takes precedence over rationality and the ability of everyone to be responsible for their actions. The masters of the world decide everything for us, but where is that "I"? It has been replaced by the state.
