Days like this don't get much better
Top down, good fam, good weather
Days like this we don't miss never
Yeah, yeah
Last night, things got a little bit crazy
Pulled up, doing 'bout 180
Life goes fast, so there ain't no maybe's
Yeah, yeah
Just give me that sunset, give me that ride
Give me them stars out, four-wheel drive
Taking that backroad, yeah, no lie
Man, that sure feels nice
Give me them real ones, ones I know
Do a little two-step, do-si-do
Turn it up loud, bring in that crowd
Take it up high, then drop it low
We do this everywhere we go (I think you know)
This ain't no one-horse rodeo (I think you know)
When we pull up green lights, our show (I think you know)
That we gon' run it, run it, run it, till we running out of road
Run it, run it, run it
Till we running out of road
Run it, run it, run it
Till we running out of road
Wasting time ain't overrated
Not when you're celebrated
Raise that glass
We're all here waiting, yeah, yeah
Just give me that sunset, give me that ride
Give me that truck, that four-wheel drive
Taking that backroad, yeah, no lie
Man, that sure feels nice
Give me them real ones, ones I know
Do a little two-step, do-si-do
Turn it up loud, bring in that crowd
Take it up high, then drop it low
We do this everywhere we go (I think you know)
This ain't no one-horse rodeo (I think you know)
When we pull up green lights, our show (I think you know)
That we gon' run it, run it, run it, till we running out of road
Run it, run it, run it, till we running out of road
Run it, run it, run it, till we running out of road
Meaning & Review Jelly Roll - Run It (From Sonic The Hedgehog 3)
Jelly Roll's track "Run It" for the movie Sonic The Hedgehog 3 has sparked mixed reactions, and that's no surprise. On one hand, the song has a vibrant, energetic vibe that definitely sticks with you and is somewhat unique. However, it's at least a bit strange in the context of the Sonic films. Based on the comments, many fans were expecting something different — something more in tune with the spirit of the games, like classic rock tracks such as "Live and Learn" or something akin to the Sonic Adventure 2 soundtrack.
There’s an opinion that the track doesn't quite fit the Sonic movies, as it leans more towards the typical pop songs of the early 2010s with some country influences. Some even drew comparisons to songs by Avicii, like "Wake Me Up." This comparison makes sense to some extent — the instrumental at the beginning of the track does indeed resemble those kinds of songs, adding a nostalgic feel to it. But at the same time, it makes the track a bit predictable and familiar. Such a sound could fit well in other contexts, but not in a Sonic movie, where fans are used to more energetic and complex compositions. Still, there are those who view this song as something fresh and original for the franchise. The dynamic and its fun vibe really capture the spirit of Sonic's adventures, especially for lighter, less serious scenes. For them, the track was a pleasant surprise, especially after the more typical electronic tracks from the previous movies.
From a movie perspective, "Run It" could have worked perfectly in a scene where the team of characters is facing fun or exciting challenges, or during the credits. However, many doubt that this kind of track would fit a scene introducing a serious character like Shadow. They expect a darker, more intense score for such moments. In fact, some fans go further and suggest that this song would be perfect for the end of the movie, where it would add lightness and even humor, contrasting with the more intense and epic moments in the main part of the film. This could create an interesting contrast, but it's important to remember that fans have always had high expectations for the music in Sonic films.
Nevertheless, from a music industry standpoint, the track is definitely worth attention, even though it may not fit perfectly within the film franchise. Jelly Roll performed the composition at a high level, and its melody could captivate even those who aren’t fans of the movie itself.
